Everything You Need to Know
Itinerary
Some more information about what we’re doing and where we’re going.
Day 1
- 9pm Meet and Greet Cocktail Reception followed by dinner.
Day 2
- After breakfast we’ll go back to the airport, but to the domestic terminal this time for the short flight to Tambor.
- Bioluminescence tour (optional extra)
- Dinner at the Hotel Vista Las Islas in Paquera, followed by a concert, open bar and snacks.
Day 3
- A surprise! But it involves boats and fantastic food.
- Concert in the evening with open bar and dinner.
Day 4
- After breakfast it will be "excursion day". There are zip lines, waterfalls, nature reserves, Tortuga Island to name just a few of the choices.
- Last Man Standing.
- Open bar and snacks.
Day 5
- This is a rest day. It is also a reserve day for optional excursions. Zip-lining does not happen when it rains, for example.
- An evening concert and dinner to remember.
- Open bar and snacks
Day 6
- Today is the day when you get to see even more of Costa Rica, but this time from the ground. A chartered coach will take us back to San Jose. On the way, we take a boat across the Bay of Nicoya. The boat takes about three quarters of an hour and provides wonderful views of the bay. After that it's lunch and one of the unmissable features of Costa Rica - a crocodile-infested river cruise (that's the river, not the cruise that is crococile infested!). Then on to San Jose and back to our San Jose hotel.
We’ll finish the trip with a sit-down dinner and short concert.
Day 7
- Breakfast at the hotel and then back to the airport.
Accommodations
We will be staying in San Jose within easy distance of the airport for the first and last nights. The hotel is a Radisson called the
Country Inn & Suites. There is a free shuttle from the airport (details to follow a few days before the trip). Please let us know if you intend to arrive earlier or stay later and we can get our group rate for you.
Hotel Vista Las Islas
See photos
- High up a mountain accessible only via a dirt road this hotel is simply magical. Go look at the photos (link above) and see for yourself. Plus it has a great place for the music as well as a swim-up bar and even a pizza oven.
Packing Tips
Packing Tips for the Girls from Jima (and some for the guys too!)
- Less is better- I know that’s hard for us girls! My suggestion is to pack carry-on luggage only if possible. You will also need an overnight bag for the first night since your luggage will be enroute by land to the Vista Las Islas hotel. The overnight bag will fly with you on the charter planes, for which there is a strict 30lbs weight limit (That's a heavy toothbrush!). Also in the overnight bag, pack your swim suit and any other essentials for the pool.
- Essentials:
- Swim suit(s) / cover up.
- CASUAL!!
- Resort – It’s a regular resort hotel - sundress will work (if you are into those) or a little nicer shorts/shirt outfit. We are here two nights. The first night is the meet and greet + dinner and the last night we dine at the hotel.
- Las Islas- shorts, tops, t-shirts comfortable wear, light sweater and one long-sleeved shirt (can be in the low 60’s at night)
- Water or closed toed shoes.
- Flashlight – if you don’t use your phone at night for one, it will come in handy when finding your way back to the room.
- Bring an umbrella or rain jacket. It's a RAIN forest!
- Hat – ball cap, sun hat, etc.. A baseball cap is a good idea in the rain.
- Binoculars; Sunscreen; Insect repellant; Sunglasses.
- Your own insulated plastic cup for drinks at the pool.
- Last but not least, don't forget your passports! If you need a passport, you can get them here. Standard service is 4-6 weeks but you can expedite it and get your passport in as little as 2 weeks.
Flights
Please wait until 4 months before departure to book your flight. While the cost does not include flights, we will try to negotiate a group rate if we have sufficient numbers coming in from the same place (e.g. Houston, DFW). Also, in the unlikely event that we have to cancel, some flight bookings may be non refundable.
If you are booking your flight independently, please try to get to SJO before 5pm on Day 1 so that you are in time for the meet and greet. We recommend avoiding the last flights of the day. If you want to come in the previous day, we can arrange accommodation for you.
Dallas/Fort Worth
American fly direct from DFW to SJO. That is the only direct flight. At the time of writing the return fare quoted is $628. There are also numerous other options which involve relatively easy plane changes, especially if you only have hand luggage. You might also look at flying out of Tyler/Waco on American and changing planes at DFW, which is significantly cheaper than just getting on the flight at DFW. At the time of writing, that return fare is $475.
Southwest go out of Love Field. It's an very easy plane change in Houston and that fare is $514 right now. There are other options too, which include Avianca, Delta, United, Spirit, Air Canada and Aeromexico. See Skyscanner for those and for flights from other cities or countries.
Houston
There are multiple direct flights with United and Southwest. The fares start at $485 return.
What does it cost?
What does it cost for six days close up with artists of this calibre, all inclusive top shelf liquors and gourmet food with specially chartered planes, boats (no trains) and coaches in a hidden tropical paradise?
The answer is $2150 per person (plus Paypal fees if paying through Paypal) for double occupancy. The price is shown when you navigate to the book now page. It's a small group, by design and of necessity - this isn't a 15 story cruise ship nor is it the Riviera Maya with 1000+ room hotels. For that reason, we can't do singles discounts (but we'll try and match same gender singles if you'd like - email us).
Cancellation and Refund Policy: Full refund (apart from Paypal transaction fees) until 4 months before departure; 50% refund until 2 months before with a further 40% (total 90% excluding Paypal fees) if we resell your spot. Less than two months before: no refund unless we or you manage to resell your spot in which case you will get a 90% refund excluding Paypal fees. All tickets are fully transferable right up to departure.
What's included?
Once you land in San Jose all food, drink, hotels, concerts and local transportation is included from Sunday evening to Friday morning. Well, that's
almost all. The exceptions are a) food and drink outside of what we provide (and we provide a lot but if you want something niche it can be hard to get in Costa Rica!), b) souvenir/personal shopping or c) activities outside of the group (e.g. excursions). Rock The Jungle starts with the meet and greet on the first evening, and ends with breakfast on Day 7.

We will be in touch regarding any food allergies. We may not be able to cater for some severe or life-threatening food allergies (e.g. Nuts, Shellfish). Gluten free isn't a problem.
